  • Facebook Digital Marketing Certificate

    Program Overview

    SUNY Erie Community College Community Education Department has partnered with Facebook to launch a new six course Digital Marketing Program.  This exciting series is designed to give small business owners and marketing professionals the tools needed to create an effective online presence and to remain competitive in a rapidly changing digital business environment.

    By completion, participants will know how to integrate foundational marketing concepts with practical technical skills.  Graduates will build a portfolio of work demonstrating the development and implementation of a strategic marketing plan along with an in-depth analysis of an actual social media and email marketing campaign.  This hands-on training provides the real-world knowledge needed for immediate application to your business.  To certify competency, students will receive a Digital Marketing Certificate at program completion.

    Registration in the Foundations course immediately qualifies students for an automatic $200 scholarship, bringing the full price of the first course down from $399 to $199.

    Foundations and Strategy of Marketing
    June 4 - July 25, 2019

    ▹ Recognize the role of marketing in the larger context of a business and business objectives.
    ▹ Provide a framework for students to think about concepts such as segmentation, targeting, value propositions, and metrics.
    ▹ Understand the market positioning and unique value proposition of a company and/or product.
    ▹ Develop segmentation of customers and user personas.
    ▹ Recognize the various online and offline marketing channels and rationale for marketing through each.
    ▹ Understand key marketing metrics and the purpose of backwards planning and measurement of marketing efforts with respect to these objectives.


    Marketing Analytics and Performance Optimization

    ▹ Recognize factors that drive conversion and opportunities to optimize marketing performance.
    ▹ Conduct A/B testing various elements of marketing efforts to increase conversion rates
    ▹ Identify key marketing metrics and their significance to determine strategic marketing optimization decisions.

    Marketing Content Strategy and Branding

    ▹ Construct effective content by learning fundamental customer psychology and buying motivations.
    ▹ Write copy for marketing content.
    ▹ Understand search engine optimization.
    ▹ Learn principles and best practice visual design.

    Search and Display Advertising

    ▹ Understand best practices and life-cycle of a search campaign and display campaign.
    ▹ Display advertising ecosystem and the different types of display ads available.
    ▹ Calculate bids and additional costs associated with search and display advertising.
    ▹ Utilize key metrics for optimization.


    Email Marketing

    ▹ Identify best practices and key legal requirements for email campaigns.
    ▹ Construct campaigns using email automation tools.
    ▹ Understand life-cycle of email campaigns. 

  • Digital Marketing Job Demand

    This Certificate program, built in partnerships with Facebook, was established to address the growing talent shortage in the fast growing field of digital marketing.

    Today over 50% of all marketing expenditure in the US is spent on digital marketing.

    Digital marketing job demand has grown accordingly: in 2018, there were over 27,000 open positions specifically for entry-level Digital Marketing roles.

    Digital marketing skills are also increasingly a career booster in many other fields outside of marketing.

    In 2018, digital marketing skills were required in over 20% of job postings across 30 different occupations.

    Career readiness support: courses also include lessons which guide students through practical, career-specific job readiness, including resume creation and updates, interview prep, and use of digital job search tools such as LinkedIn and Indeed.com.
