    Guidelines and Standards

Why is Using the SUNY Erie Logo Important?
When used appropriately, the SUNY Erie logos graphically represent the College in a clear and consistent manner. In addition, its use builds brand awareness and brand equity.

Who Should Use the Logo Standards?
All SUNY Erie academic and administrative departments must follow these guidelines. These standards apply to all communications including brochures, advertising, website, email, fliers, invitations, ads, video, social media and newsletters, to name a few.

    General Rules of Usage
The logo should appear on all official college publications, in all promotional advertising and on all printed communications that are distributed on and off campus. The approved logos should be used on all college communications, on the front cover of printed materials, on all website pages and all fliers. The logos must be reproduced using an official electronic file, must maintain their proper ratio and cannot be altered in any way. If you have questions about what is acceptable, please contact the Marketing and Communications Department.

    Fonts
Helvetica Neue and Minion Pro are the official college font families used in our signature logo. These fonts are not bundled with Microsoft Office, so when producing print materials, acceptable substitutions are Garamond or Times New Roman for Minion Pro and Arial or Helvetica for Helvetica Neue. For information, refer to SUNY Erie’s Style Guide.

    College Name
    There are three acceptable options:
SUNY Erie, State University of New York - This is our most formal name and used on all communications for national audiences.
SUNY Erie Community College - This is the college's official chartered name.
SUNY Erie - This is our less formal name used most frequently on communications with internal and external groups who are familiar with the college and its stature within the State University of New York system. It is also our preferred casual name, used in second reference.

    SUNY Erie Logo
SUNY Erie’s logos are an important symbol of our brand and are identified with the quality of SUNY Erie programs and services symbolic of the State University of New York. The SUNY Erie logo is accessible for download. Choose the logo that meets the needs of your specific project. It is important the college’s logos be used properly and within all accepted guidelines. The logo should never be stretched or distorted. EPS logos are for vendor view only. Here at SUNY Erie, we maintain a consistent use of the SUNY Erie logo.

    SUNY Erie Kats Logo
The Kats paw logo is used primarily to promote the message of SUNY Erie athletics spirit and pride. The college’s first Athletic Director Larry Katzman began his SUNY Erie career in 1950 and referred to the athletes as the legendary Kats, thus the name of SUNY Erie's athletic players and teams today – the SUNY Erie Kats. The logo represents the college’s winning tradition as a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association.
